Tafiya Itiaba-Bayah is an Afro-Canadian movement artist with roots in Saint Lucia and Ghana, representing four international street dance collectives: Kybalion Movement, The World Serpent, ChallengerDeep and Floorgangz. He has worked with movement and street dance styles (breaking, hip-hop, and house) as his primary method of expression and exploration for over 15 years. It is through street dance culture, music, and movement that he has been able to find his voice and empower artists around the world. He has trained, facilitated, competed, performed, and traveled in order to hone his craft. He continues to support the advancement of the Canadian street dance community through community program creation and resource sharing. By creating tools and spaces for artists, especially youth artists, we allow them the opportunity to question the experiences, systems, and environments we live in. He remains grounded in a long term vision of creating healthier and more supportive environments for street dancers to grow in community or commercial settings.
